Wilbur Salisbury invented this electric outboard. He did produce them earlier under his name. See Salisbury.
Frank S. Allen marketed the Salisbury under his own name. I have no info on the deal made between the inventor and Allen other than the rights to the motor were sold.
Allen introduced it under his own name in 1895.
