STARTING INSTRUCTIONS—MODEL 15
• Open shut off valve on gas tank. Lever points toward engine when open.
• Open air vent screw on back of tank by turning to left as tightly as possible.
• Place timer handle on magneto about 2 inches to left of center.
• Move throttle control on carburetor down to “speed” position as marked on side plate of carburetor.
• Close choke on carburetor. Needle valve has been set at factory for running speed. The setting should be about one and a half turns to left after being shut off.
• Wind rope around starter rim engaging knot in one of slots. Give rope a quick pull to spin motor. When motor starts, open choke slowly and also move timer lever to right, to a position directly center, or slightly to right, of carburetor.
• After motor is running adjust needle valve to best running position by turning to right or left.
• The speed is controlled by throttle lever on carburetor and also by retarding spark lever.
• For cold weather starting motor can be primed through priming cocks with clear gasoline. These cocks are also convenient should motor become flooded. Shut off needle valve, open choke and spin motor to clean out surplus gas. |
