An excerpt from Arlan Carter's The American Rowboat Motor:
The Ferro company firest produced outboard motors in 1914 and continued until 1917. They advertised quite heavily during this period and their ads appeared in all the major sporting and marine magazines.

They basically produced one model available in two options, a battery ignition model and a magneto model. Both models used the same power head . When the magneto wasn't used the flat area on top of the cylinder was used for the identification plate. The magneto model's identification plate was attached to the side of the gas tank.

A couple of changes were made to the original model in 1915, but after that it remained much the same. It was a quality engine using a float feed carburetor, and a combination rudder, propellor, steering system.

The "tell" is the cast aluminum exhaust.
