Joymotor

Joy Engineering Company
Chicago, Illinois

The earliest mention of the Joy Engineering Company that I found was from December 1914, in a list of newly incorporated firms.
The earliest ads or mentions of any kind relating to a motor that was for sale I could find were in 1915 sports magazines when they started offering the motor.

In spite of being manufactured until 1921 there are few around.

The motors evolved over the years. For details on construction and changes, plus more photos, refer to Arlan Carter's book The American Rowboat Motor.
