Wisconsin
Model L

It has taken me years to find a Model L.

This example below is not in very good shape, having a bent spark lever and a rough tank.
Actually missing are exhaust can and the can bottom.

Since it is the only one I have, these photos will have to do! The early rudder shape was changed to this later shape sometime in 1915.

All Model Ls had a rudder... but NO magneto.

When it comes to restoration most of you will have figured out that I do not do the cosmetic stuff, just the mechanical parts. But on this motor there is neither any paint nor decals, and it is rusty...so it IS a good candidate for a cosmetic restoration, ie. paint and new decals.

I have strong feelings about repainted motors and do not like them usually. Repainting destroys all evidence of originality.

For instance, the only reproduction Wisconsin decal available for restorations now is the red one...so if someone who has a scruffy old tank with evidence of the other decal wants to tart it up, they will have to use the red version. Once that is done no one in the future will ever be able to know what it originally was like.

AND vinyl decals were not used!!!!!!!!!
