Koban

Koban's straight forward motto was"The Motor Does Not Shake the Boat" .

I have a lot of literature to someday scan....including plans for a rowboat Koban published as the perfect boat to go with their motor. It was especially designed to go with an outboard!

And we have this cool Kobanize Your Canoe leaflet....and...and (feel free to nag)

About the catalogs:

Koban catalogs seem to go out of their way not to reference any dates.

It is really annoying.

Other catalogs might even have dated testimonials referencing the models, but not Koban. They won't even hint at a date. (Which makes a catalog stay "fresh" longer if you are planning mailing it out for an unknown length of time. Waste not, want not.)

The finned cylinder heads were the earliest, 1914.

The 1915's had plain domed heads without lettering.

1916+ had the "Koban" name cast into the dome.
